Create a compilation, use some sort of image during each cut. Then it’s a simple matter of dropping the cuts in with markers for each selection,and making that a series of chapters. This DVD won’t play in a car stereo…it’ll only play in a DVD player. Set top or computer.

Chances are also very good that the .mov files are MJPEG files, and for these files, you’ll need an MJPEG decoder, such as the one from Morgan.

Sometimes, some systems…nested veg files can tax your proc or system resources. I’ve found that setting threads to 1 or 2, generally makes this render hangup go away. i’ve got a monster project that has several nested XDCAM HD veggies in it that chokes if I don’t set Dynamic RAM to 0 and threads to 1.

The cheap/semi fast option is to scan your signature at high rez, then use a Bezier mask to reveal it via keyframes.

Unless the broadcaster is specifically set up for 24p, then yes…you need to render it to 60i.

Why not bring the smoke into a mask so the word “Streetfire” comes out of the smoke using a height map, then if you want to burn the letters, you can. “Where there is smoke…there’s fire” sort of thought.

you’re always going to run into this problem with highly compressed formats. DV is bad, more highly compressed is worse.
If you want the mathematical reasons, i suggest Charle’s Poynter’s excellent book on HD. Read the chapters on compressions and color space.Douglas Spotted Eagle

if it’s going to broadcast, it needs pulldown. 60i is standard. If your broadcaster has special offerings, they’d be letting you know, and outside of anything “special” they’re broadcasting 60i, not 30p, not 24p.

In the Preview window, there is a half moon/half circle button. You’ve depressed/enabled it. This splits the screen into a before/after preview (amongst other things).
