Simply set it for m2t capture, non-drop and Vegas will be very happy. Canopus and Avid (and FCP) all require format conversion after recording. Vegas does not.

You can mute a video (or audio) track by using the mute button found in every track header, or select the track and press “Z”.
you can minimize a track to a very narrow profile by selecting the “minimize” button on the upper left corner of the track.

The immediate answer is “nope.”
If Panasonic does with AVC I what they’ve done with DVCPro, it’ll be a while til anyone can read their files.

it all depends on how they were encoded. Yes, Vegas will open some mp4 files, and not others, depending on the file itself.

Ultimate S (and Excalibur) both will/do still function in Vegas 8, and your preferences for working with the Sony multicam or the third party multicam tools are yours to choose. There are benefits to both workflows, IMO.
There are some scripting possibilities available now with Vegas 8 that weren’t there before, yes.

Size your window up or down with “Scale to fit Preview” enabled.
You’ll see a change in framerate.
Now un-dock the Preview window and double click the header bar. You’ll see better performance from the PreviewDouglas Spotted Eagle

Not a hidden secret at all. All of our workstations provide full framerate playback of HDV and other flavors of HD at Preview/Auto and Preview/Full *if* the preview window is correctly sized. Otherwise Vegas has to scale as well.
More information about how you’re monitoring may be helpful.
As you’ve noted, many others enjoy this full frame playback as well. The problem obviously lies with how your system is set up.
Could be HDD setup, could be shared resources, could be PIO/DMA, could be antivirus, or any number of other affects.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Bear in mind that Vista 64 is uncharted territory. Vegas does not support Vista (or XP) 64, so use/install at your own risk.
