  • Vegas HDV Files….Firestore and capture issue

I have recently changed over to the Canon XH-A1 cameras and the FS-C Firestores. I am having two issues presently. First, when I drag and drop the Firestore files onto my files drive and then put one on the time line, it hangs the program. If I capture the same footage off the tapes, it plays fine. The downside is that When capturing from tapes, Vegas doesn’t offer the ability to batch capture and has the timecode selection grayed out. I suspect there may be a timecode issue going on. In the Firestore manual is says to check which type of time code your editing suite accepts. It lists types for Canopus, Avid, etc, but not for Vegas. Anyone know the answer to this, since I can find no reference in the manual? I am also wondering if my settings are correct in the Firestores. I’m shooting M2t files in non-dropframe using Vegas 7.0e.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Simply set it for m2t capture, non-drop and Vegas will be very happy. Canopus and Avid (and FCP) all require format conversion after recording. Vegas does not.

Thank you Douglas. I’ll check my settings and make the appropriate changes.
