Put it in your .vst folder, then in Vegas preferences, point the vst plugin search to that folder. Vegas will then see the VST effect.

If you are outputting for BD or HD DVD, you can choose either AVCHD or MPEG formats.
If you’re simply rendering to HDV for print-back or for HDD playback, the file will be UFF. HDV is UFF. -
There is no “If you’ve been using Avid you’ll need to do it this way in Vegas” but in the Absolute Training series for Vegas, I do mention Avid and FCP shortcut comparisons from time to time. To my knowledge, that’s as close as you’re gonna come.

Hmm…hadn’t noticed this yet, but you’re right; RED isn’t showing up in my media Generators.
Sounds like contact with Boris is in order. It likelyis that they haven’t written support for 8 yet. -

1-No way will you see real-time performance of AVCHD on virtually any computer. SR5 is AVCHD, not HDV.
2-Running Vegas in Preview/Auto mode should provide realtime internal and external preview of HDV to SD monitor or HD LCD/plasma monitor
3-Kill all background apps, particularly antivirus, and you should see an immediate increase in playback performance.
4-HDD’s set to DMA and not PIO.
5-Be sure HDD’s aren’t completely/nearly completely filled.

There are some advantages to 10bit. I’d run Neo were you looking to do color push or compositing.
The CineForm codecs that come with Vegas are great, but they’re nowhere near as beneficial as the Neo product. -

OK, more info gets a better answer…
You’ve either hit the “U” key to “Ungroup” audio/video on a specific event, or you’ve toggled the “Ignore Event Grouping” button on your toolbar, which tells Vegas to ignore the grouping of audio/video.
Selecting Audio/Video of an event and hitting the “G” key for “Group” will regroup an event, and deselecting/toggling the Ignore Event Group button will restore event grouping.
