What’s the quickest way to get up to speed with the Vegas workflow?

I’m not new to non-linear editing, just new to Vegas specifically. The times I have messed with a demo of Vegas, I have gotten the basic concepts of the program, but don’t really know how to make it sing.

Is there a video training set that addresses migrating from Vegas from other editing programs?

There is no “If you’ve been using Avid you’ll need to do it this way in Vegas” but in the Absolute Training series for Vegas, I do mention Avid and FCP shortcut comparisons from time to time. To my knowledge, that’s as close as you’re gonna come.

Visit VASST.com and pickup the Absolute Training Series for Vegas. This will get you up to speed fast.
I still keep my VASST DVD’s and books in the edit bay for quick reference.

    Regards, Rick.

You can also go through my newsletters. Lots of basics are discussed in them.

I’ve been using Vegas now for around a year, having done a lot of editing with another NLE and I can say both of those suggestions are good ones. I particularly like the VAAST DVD’s as you can have them up on the screen while you are trying to figure out how to do something in Vegas. Very easy to navigate to the section you want to learn about, and it has been a great resource. Also, you’ll find that it doesn’t take long at all to grasp the basics, and then you are totally hooked and don’t want to consider any other NLE.
