Yes that can cause a problem. You need to delete the thumbnail from the from the camera which in turn deletes the associated media and rebuilds the directory. There is a piece of software that can allegedly pull the footage in though rumor is it’s slow look here

perhaps you should look at the FCP help menu. the log and transfer window does not populate without pointing it to where your files are, which is the “add custom path” drop down.
As far as what settings to use, that would depend on what you shot, my guess is you would want to convert the mts files to proRes which is set in the Log & Transfer prefs. I think all you can convert to is proRes with those files.Doug Beal

May 9, 2009 at 4:55 am in reply to: Please suggest capture and project settings to retain closed-caption dataChris On the DVDs we generate a file for DVD SP out of MacCaption. I’m at home but I remember it as an SCC file I think. It is an optional export using the same encode that the “black file” is generated from. MacCaption can also read the caption info by loading a captioned file into it from which it can generate an SCC file. I also remember DVD SP has a check box to load the file, line 21 file??
Sorry not more accurate can’t look from here at all of itDoug Beal

depends on your source. if it’s files the frame rate is embedded in the file, if it’s tape based you can source it in with your preference.
I would assume the decklink can add pulldown, and would suspect either the help file or documentation would guide you in that respect. We use AJA cards and they will insert pulldown. the setting is in the control panel for the AJA productsDoug Beal

May 7, 2009 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Please suggest capture and project settings to retain closed-caption dataMark there are issues with DV closed captioning. take a look here
https://www.cpcweb.com/dv/Kona cards will injest and output line 21 data no problem. we encode regularly.
I believe the issue with DV depends on the Deck
708 CC is only possible with hardware encoders, matrox MXO2, firewire DVCProHD to 1200 or 1400.
DVD closed captioning can be achieved using the specified file format in DVD SP. Mac Caption can read line 21 data and generate this file, or if MacCaption is being used to create CC data can export both a file to key over NLE footage and a file for DVD SP authoring

This is where you put in a procurement request
A Kona 3 will playout your 720P 23.98 footage to dbeta or miniDV providing you have SDI I/O on your decks. It will do this in real time adding the pulldown and allowing you to select anamorphic, center crop or letterbox.Doug Beal

Chase down as Bob says and he’ll get you to the Issue at Hand.
Under the Heading “Personal Experience”
We have a D800 with atto R380. Hitachi drives. We DO NOT run DVraid.
It is Raid5, stock the way it came from Sonnet except for the raid controller updates upon moving to Leopard. works like a champ pushing uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2 HdCam no trouble.
It has had a problem twice, back when I ran 10.4.11.
I removed the drive, installed the spare we bought with it, and rebuilt it. No data loss, did not notice any performance hit even when compromised.
reformatted the problem drive on a sled in the macPro pulled it out and the next time there was an issue stuck it back in and rebuilt array. It is still in that configuration, That was little over a year ago.Doug Beal

check your panning on the original tracks. to maintain discrete mono one track must be panned -1 and the other track panned 1 if you have two tracks
also check your track assigns, control click near the green button on the audio track, and assign each track accordingly if they are not already correctDoug Beal
