I know what a pulldown is and why it is used, but some things about it are a bit cloudy to me.

    1. I am editing using a black magic decklink capture card. I have a rack and I usually layoff to digibeta or sometimes beta. If I get footage that was shot in 24p, would I edit it in 24 or 29.97? Does blackmagic apply the pulldown when it lays it off to digibeta if the FCP timeline is in 24?

    2. What if I have footage on digibeta and for some reason I wanted to bring it in at 24p? Does blackmagic remove pulldown?

3.. Are there different types of pulldowns?

I guess I know the basics of the topic but none of the details… any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

depends on your source. if it’s files the frame rate is embedded in the file, if it’s tape based you can source it in with your preference.
I would assume the decklink can add pulldown, and would suspect either the help file or documentation would guide you in that respect. We use AJA cards and they will insert pulldown. the setting is in the control panel for the AJA products

so I should edit it 24p and then black magic will apply the pull down during layoff so it looks nice in 29.97 on digibeta?
