You’ll want to start playing with adding a light and the click on the lens tab to select a preset that gets you started. then play with fall off, inner , outer etc.

Set the projection to flat. You may need to turn off tiling.

  • Great R 9.6 feature request. I don’t know if anyone here has used the new After Effects 7 but it has many new features borrowed from Maxon and Apple, maybe it’s time for Maxon to borrow the reload, replace footage feature from Adobe.

    I think Adam is right!
I would create a plane subdivide it 5 segments each and then “Function>Triangulate” call it paper.
Make a copy call it half wadded paper.
Start folding the polys in to something you like but about halfway, duplicate it and call the new object wadded paper.
Then use posemixer or pose to pose (which ever you feel most comfortable with) to morph between the 3 objects.

    CBB,
There are a couple of ways to do this. Most will involve the compositing tag and alpha channels or object buffer.
You can do a pass with just the city and shadow from the car, then render a still of the car with alpha and composite the two in After Effects or FCP.
place the composite tag on the car and uncheck seen by rays.
You can do the reverse by rendering a still of the city and rendering the car and shadow then composite. Place composite tag on city uncheck seen by rays.
    Render with straight alpha.

You should do this in a post app like shake, AE, FCP, etc. The fast way is to pull all the saturation out. The best way is to conform all the color channels to 100% of the best channel.
In other words, If you like the look of the red channel; then set all of your color channels to 100% in the red and 0% everything else.

make sure object buffer is enabled with ID 1 on your object.
In the render settings check to see that you have object buffer selected for the multipass output.
Also make sure to save the multipass output as a file.

  • Sorry Steve,
There isn’t any. I’ve looked for the last 4 years.
Someone over at c4d cafe asked about cleaner composites with c4d and AE so I did a quick tut for him.
You’ll need QuickTime 7 or some Windows folks prefer VLC Media Player.
