  • How to “link” (instead of copy) external 3ds objects into my scene

I’m trying to create a scene in Cinema 4D in which I’ll include some 3ds models from my colleges’s computers. While I’m creating the scene, my friends also working to improve their models.

What I would like to do, is create a “link” to their model files on the network instead of merging current version of their models, so that when everybody finish their model, we can render the scene in Cinema 4D.

So, my question is; if/how to “link” (instead of copy) external 3ds objects into my scene ?

    Regards

Not possible, I’m afraid. What you’re asking for is commonly referred to as Xrefs, or blocks, and Cinema doesn’t support them as yet.

Great R 9.6 feature request. I don’t know if anyone here has used the new After Effects 7 but it has many new features borrowed from Maxon and Apple, maybe it’s time for Maxon to borrow the reload, replace footage feature from Adobe.

Hope so. I know it’s been requested many times, including at least once by yours truly.
