I don’t want to give the impression that I am mad at anybody….. It is just so useful of program, that I want it back, yesterday!
I was wondering if it was “Pilot Error”, because I didn’t bother to read the instructions at first.
Phillip per your email, I will repair permissions on all my drives and see what happens. (just as soon as FCPX gets done with a 44 min export.

[Don Smith] “You can copy within FCPX by simply dragging the Event to another hard drive. “
I rarely copy and paste! I’m a dragger!
Repairing system drive permissions did not work. btw

[T. Payton] “When you say it quit working do you mean the app would open but the window would be blank?”

Exactly! To be fair, I had just re-arranged, re-named and re-purposed the hard drives on my system. But there is within the program a (command R) Rescan command, that I assumed would show the program where everything is. It just stays blank.
I trashed the program preferences in the Library, (after reinstalling the program twice), but I have not repaired my system drive permissions, I will do that later today.
Obviously it’s not about the money, I got my $5 worth out of the program. It was just a great simple program that made my life so easy, and I want it back!!!!
BTW, Phillip Hodgetts if you ever read this, I would pay $25 for a working, supported version of the program.

Okay, that settles it! I will get both, unless of course I just break down and buy an iMac.
    Thanks guys for the help.

[Bret Williams] “The RAM can’t be more than $100. Why would you worry about that? Get as much RAM as you can afford. 16gigs does seem to be the norm. “

RAM for the 3.1 is $299 for 8GB. This particular Mac Pro has to have the RAM with with the heat sinks. I am trying to keep my total to about $1000, and I probably need to buy a 4 port SATA card, my 2 port card is only 1.5gps.

  • [John Davidson] “I think it’s based on the quality of work.”
    Yeah…. that’s what I was afraid of.

  • Very hurt that I didn’t get a survey……. I think I’ll cry now. I do take a little bit of solace in the fact Jeremy didn’t get one either. I wonder if Walter Biscardi did?

  • I would really like to have X remember the ins and outs in the various clips in the events, but more importantly on the storyline of the project. I can deal with the issue with favorites in the events but it is maddening to set my in point and out point (or selection start and end) in the primary storyline, go look at something else and then come back and find the marks gone……. That needs to be fixed!

Noah from Apple called me about a post I did about a month ago outlining a couple of problems I had…..
He sent me a hard drive to load my events and projects onto and then followed up with some additional questions, one of which I really need to get around to answering.
    I was very impressed!

[Jason Porthouse] “Great, we can go back to large desks full of switchers with massive T bars. They always made me feel kinda like a pilot. Impressed the hell outta clients, much more than an iMac does now. They were far more likely to sit on the sofa in silent awe of my technical prowess, instead of asking if they can get that software on their Macbook…. *sigh*”

I was telling a preacher friend of mine just yesterday about my $750,000 edit suite at CNN post 15 years ago…… Abekas A-83, A-57, a million D-2 machines and Digi Betas…… Now I can do so much more with my 3 year old Mac Pro, Kona Card and various software. BTW the linear suite only had one monitor that anybody cared about. It changed from source to record as needed totally at the whim of the editor.
