[Walter Soyka] “Personally, I think there’s a lot of value in learning an app’s native hotkeys. When functionality doesn’t match 100% from app to app, I find close-but-no-cigar key bindings to be absolutely maddening. In my opinion, it’s better to go through the pain of learning the new shortcuts once and make new muscle memory than discovering over and over again that a particular key doesn’t work quite the way you expect every time you hit it.”
I couldn’t agree more! The biggest mistake I made transitioning from Avid to FCP was creating an “Avidesque” keyboard layout, instead of learning how FCP did things first. Because i used a completely different keyboard layout (which works great for me) I was reluctant to test for my FCp certification because I simply didn’t know the keyboard as Apple had designed it.
I have made a few changes on FCP X, ( moving transition key from cmd T to the ` key etc, and I have a Contour design Shuttle Pro that I use, but I will keep the keyboard as close to original as I can.

In the process of backing up my system partitions now. Probably won’t get to FCS 3 install until the morning. But I am going ahead with it.

I am going to keep backups of everything. So if something goes wrong or Mountain Lion leaves FCS behind, I will have options. I just would like my day to day life to be a little easier.

Is FCPX in a separate folder inside your application folder? Does the Motion round tripping in 7 still work?
Does the horrible integration between X and Motion 5 function? Is there any issue with installing FCS 3 after X? Do you think it’s a good time to buy Apple stock?don walker

Michael,
I hate to admit, I’m being a little lazy…. I use DVD Studio Pro a lot, and I’m just tired of rebooting to the other partition to use it. Plus I use 7 to make time code burn ins for clients….don walker

Maybe they should go with a different naming convention, something elegant and simple like……. EDIT…. yeah that’s sounds good!

[Chris Harlan] “Don, he said theme paper which is very different than a term paper. A theme paper would be about “cats” or “honesty.” Though I’m guessing the story is a bit fanciful and a bit tongue in cheek. “
Oh……. DRW is one of my forum hero’s, I tend to believe anything he posts 🙂 Walter Biscardi was a hero, but he went over to the dark side……..

[David Roth Weiss] “The greatest influence on my writing style came from Mrs. Smith, my third grade English teacher. After she assigned a “theme paper” to the class, a single hand went up, and a fellow named Scott Wing asked Mrs. Smith how long that composition needed to be.
I’ll never forget the answer… Mrs. Smith said, and I quote: “Like a woman’s skirt, it must be long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep it interesting.””
Third Grade? Term Paper? Really ? And I thought it was rough writing a term paper in 11th grade!

[Craig Seeman] “Lots of odd moments to type except when I’m out on a shoot.”
A couple weeks ago, in a couple of threads, I noticed that you weren’t chiming in as would be expected, then somebody else almost begged you to respond. You must have been on a shoot.

I use it for 90% of my work but I have had to run back to 7 because of major issues outlined here:
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/335/28153I like the promise of X, but I too will be watching what happens at the Adobe booth in Vegas, albeit on the web from Texarkana, Texas.don walker
