Maybe I should get a lawyer! They might want to come after me for all the times I used a page turn (1000s) in car spots, industrials and many other productions that I needed (or not) a tacky transition. Does this mean they are going to drive Abekas, and Ampex into bankruptcy for the A-51,53,57 Deveous, and ADO having that feature? Oh wait….. they’re already been bankrupt. Serves them right for stealing Apple’s invention.

[Bill Davis] “And trying to integrate those thousands of actions and spline options in Motion directly into the code of X would be a huge mistake in my judgement. YMMV.”
Okay Bill, I’ll grant you that; a compromise would be the ability to send clips, compound clips, or secondary story lines to motion with all timing and attributes intact. Can I crave that?

[Chris Harlan] “[Alan Okey] “I’m very surprised that Apple didn’t simply combine Motion 5 and FCP X into one application. There’s really no reason that Motion’s tools couldn’t be integrated into FCP X, even as separate “rooms,” etc. “
I’m hoping against hope that the reason we haven’t seen round tripping developed to Motion, is that Apple is hard at work integrating it into FCPX…… That’s my dream anyway.don walker

Jim,
In agreeing with Oliver are you giving up on X?
I find your situation the most similar to mind and I am falling for the software more and more, even after almost swearing it off after losing a day’s worth of work.
I started a big industrial video on PP6 in anticipation of really getting into the PP/AE workflow but found myself longing for the ease of X, and eventually moved the project to X. I also found the improvements in .6 to be incredible.
I have two big things on my wish list: My personal move away from my 2008 MacPro, and some semblance of a send to Motion feature.don walker

My BMD card worked great, but still wants to be a Kona 3 when it grows up……

Jim, I proved to the world that I wasn’t a good professional editor by, upgrading right in the middle of a project. The program promptly beach balled on the first project load up, I forced quit, and it’s been nothing but smooth sailing since. There is a little funky flash frames when adjusting plugin effects, but nothing show stopping. It is faster on my 2008 8 core. I love it.

[Walter Soyka] “I have been noodling some with Smoke 2013 and I’m really excited about the possibilities there.”
I’ve been meaning to ask….. I have migrated from 7 to X, and have solid “big room” linear, Quantel and Avid background, but I have no idea what learning Smoke will do for me…… Can somebody spell that out to me please?
I have downloaded the trial, played with it for 30 minutes, and it felt clunky to me.

[Bret Williams] “Bottom line, it has been immensely more fun learning something completely new (FCP X) than learning something different (CS6).”
[Bret Williams] “Learning Premiere feels kinda like that. It’s nothing really new and exciting. Just a chore to switch to another similar but different thing.”
BINGO!
I have been having a hard time figureing out why I don’t want to learn Premiere. I think you just put it into words

[Craig Seeman] “although there was CDL and Abekas in there as well”
The Abekas A-83 connected to a Axial 2020 with an A-57, was the BOMB!

[Andrew Richards] “It removes all the lag from your interactions. Apps launch much faster, in many cases instantly. Documents open instantly. QuickView previews appear much more quickly. Finder browsing is lag-free. Spotlight searches return results immediately. Most of the beachballs you get are the OS waiting for storage to catch up to operations. You’ll see much fewer beachballs when you boot from an SSD.”
Would all that be true if a 2008 MacPro had a SSD as a boot drive?
