I can’t remember either, but if you want to empty the trash and avoid the warning you can press: ?-Shift-Option-Delete. This shortcut will also work if you’ve got locked files in the trash.

“Uh-oh” (voice of Scritch from the movie Ice Age). I just ordered a tricked out Mac Pro less than a month ago and it’s not here yet. I wonder If they’d let me upgrade in mid stream. Must make a mental note to phone my local Apple supplier if the rumor pans out.

[steamclam] “I recently upgraded to tiger. I even removed all my old quicktime receipts and reinstalled it yet nothing seems to work. “

That usually fixes it. Did you follow all the instructions at the Apple web site?

    Just making sure.

[Quentin Block] “hat would be the best possible export setting without taking away quality OR adding unnecessary bitrate?”

Export using the same codec as your source video e.g. capture with DV NTSC 48k, edit and export using the same. You won’t see any quality difference. The only time you want to edit and export with something else is when you have lots of graphics which will benefit from a codec that uses less compression than DV NTSC.

  • [chezgray] “I have no idea how to update my profile. How do I do that?”

On the left side of the main Creative Cow window below the picture of the cow you’ll see a green area. Choose: Edit Profile.

  • If your source clips have been changed then drag them into the viewer window one by one. Click on the Motion tab. You’ll see a red X in the upper middle of the window. This is the reset button for that particualr clip. Click on it and that should get rid of all your changes. You’ll need to do that for each source clip.

  • Try selecting all the clips at once that are zoomed in then right or control click on one of the selected clips. In the pop-up menu select “remove attributes.” Make sure “Basic Motion” is checked and then click OK. Try that and post back with the results. If that doesn’t make the changes ‘stick’ then there may be a problem with FCP’s preference files whcih is just a guess at this point.
