I used Lumberjack on 2 productions last summer – works well with FCPX and is not overly expensive – I didn’t use any logging functions, just transcription , and then text editing to create sequences – it’s worth doing the trial…

I haven’t done this for a while, but I believe I had the best luck opening the png in Photoshop, then exporting it FOR WEB (Legacy) – that preserved the png transparency (as I remember…)

    Good luck!

  • I use Gigapixel AI quite a bit for stills – but, depending on the content of the image, enlarging in Photoshop can be better – I use Smooth as the blowup scheme, then sharpen with Topaz Sharpen AI…works pretty well…

thanks for your reply – not my setup, but just as goofy results…

  • Hi, Jeff. Thanks for your response.

    Here’s the crazy story:

    I rec’d a finished video in 1080p 30fps 44.1Khz

Each shot was a cut, so I cut it down and made Compound clips of each shot

    Brought them into a 1080p 23.98fps 48Khz TimeLine

All shots worked fine, except one that is scaled up a bit, but shows only 100% scaling in the Inspector.

I immediately tried the different settings for Spatial Conform – nothing changed at each setting.

I converted the Compound Clips back to regular clips – but the shot is still scaled up slightly, as if the FCPX system is remembering a possible change in scale that I may have done and then reversed.

Here’s what I did to fix the issue:

    I used the Inspector to move the Compound clip: x = +90, y = -35, scale = 90%

when I turned it back from being a Compound clip the new Transform held…

    Whew!

this is very weird as all clips came from the same piece of video and noe except one is affected by this problem.

I hate to ask this obvious question, but is your Playback View set for Better Performance? That was a must when I was using a MBA.

  • Can you drag a clip from PPcc to AEcs6 and have the linking work?

  • Actually, I was able to do it….something about opening an archive… sorry I can’t be more specific… I’m in France with only internet access at a McDonald’s… can’t even learn FCPX as the help files are all on line….

more later when I have better inet access

    regards,

    Hi, David…

I’ve enjoyed your advice and greatly profited from it…

Now I’ve taken the plunge with FCPX and find that it will not recognize my AVCHD files that I transferred over to hard drive with file structure intact. FCP7 and Premiere CS5.5 both recognize and import these files!

What could I be doing wrong?

    Thanks, in advance.

    Don

  • I can’t get FCPX to recognize (import or ingest) AVCHD files that I copied with file structure intact over to a hard drive. Premiere sees them and plays them with NO problem… what’s happening?

    Any suggestions much appreciated…

    Don
