October 11, 2013 at 4:52 am in reply to: Chroma Rendering Efficiently meaning mixing clip types? It was my understanding that the quality would hold up better for rendering and then taking the rendered file back into my project to use in a rendered state?

Dave I appreciate your time – I will try it. Just so you know my configuration as best I can explain it.
My OS is on the Intel 520 SSD –
Media drive for these projects are on a pair of (6g SATA) – WD Black 2TB 64mb cache – Raid 0 – so totaling 4TB.
Render out to drive is 1 WD 2TB 64MB 6g SATA
I have a black-magic design drive speed tester. I tested the media drive just now: Read 220 MBs Write 220 MBs consistent. Using the 5GB Stress for testing(most demanding). It said I can use 1920×1080 10 bit YUV 422. Honestly I don’t know what all that means, Nor is that beyond or Below cineform? I just know that, that was faster than the other drives.
I have Adobe CS5.5 I rendered in there MUCH faster – It used about 50-60% CPU and about 25GB ram. I am just not familiar with adobe and want to avoid crossing over. I like Sony
I will try what you said and see. Thank You again

October 10, 2013 at 11:28 pm in reply to: Chroma Rendering Efficiently meaning mixing clip types?Sorry for misunderstanding – I don’t know all the proper terminology. What I am asking is if I have a Cam 1 Chroma Key Shot I should render it out as cineform then bring it back into the timeline – rendered. and like wise Cam 2 chroma key Shot render out as cineform then bring back in timeline rendered.
My Question is should I also do that for graphic’s jpegs, pngs and lower thirds intro and ending I use every week so ultimately I have them in a pre-rendered form so in the long run it will cut down my weekly rendering of this weekly program.
If yes what do I render lower-thirds, Jpegs, pngs, that need alpha-channel to be usable again.
All I said my be irrelevant – It all renders now if I do all of them together, but, it take 14 hours per 1 hour program to render. So I thought maybe it might be me mixing footage photos and so on.
Hope this is clear.
Thank You for any directionPC 1

I fixed the 32 MB! DUH! Yes its 32 GB.
Also I do have chroma key in this mix.I checked the CPU Performance 20-30% only and Ram about 4-5 GB in use!!!
I have to render a (1 hour) 2 camera Chroma Project every week for webcast.
Question: If I edit with Cineform 1920×1080 AVi or Sony MFX and Render out for archive Cineform 1920×1080 High.does it matter about the graphics format like PNG or Jpeg or should I pre render those out to another format.
I have 2 Chroma back grounds PNGs – PNG Multiple visuals Jpgs
Also lower thirds done with BCC 7.
and a bug PNGI render any or all of these out as a ???
Since I use these same graphics over and over.Typical render time at this point for 1 hour project is 14 to 16 Hours.
Thank U

Dave – I read the thread on converting footage – its over my head – but if i may ask a more simple ? – I think concerning same type issue. When I bring Jpegs – PNGs – lower thirds – bugs into time line, should I convert them all to a standard type of file if I use them over and over. I edit in cineform codec. I am having incredible long render time and looking to stream line the process for render efficiency and quality? 1 hour time line takes 13 to 14 hours to render using pc#2 computer. I notice it bogs down rendering on some of my lower thirds.

THANK U!
Don’t know why but glad it does work – didn’t see where to turn GPU off in render setting So I just turned off GPU in Preferences – had to shut down V12 – but it workedPC 1
