Parent tracks vs Nested Veg Files -PC Performence?

I don’t think there is anything you can do to get around this. Chroma Key is just very compute intensive. Why don’t you just render an intermediary file instead of using nested projects with Chroma Key? It would be a lot easier to work with.

The parent track thing is not gonna work in this situation.
Either you be patient and work with the laboring of your system
(.Veg files coupled with Chroma keying is gonna tug hard on your system)
or you render out both of your chroma key shots individually to a
video format and drop it back on the timeline for final render.

Sir John or Steve,
I have 5 Video tracks in Cam1 composite Chroma Key. I currently have a Cam1 parent and 4 children tracks hooked together. Is there a way that I can (now that I have that all set)cut to the Cam 2 Parent track – back and fourth without having to adjust each child track individually. Like doing multicam back and fourth between my to parent tracks?

Steve, Thank You, I have CineForm, Should I render to that? or another codec setting knowing I will bring it back into the timeline to then re-render the final product? The Final is for cable TV – DVD – and Web

Best to render each out to AVI Uncompressed or Quicktime Uncompressed (None),
but if you want smaller file sizes you can render them as Quicktime
Phot-jpeg, Animation or Motion-jpeg. Im not a fan of Cineform.
Dont worry about losing quality due to rendering twice, its
minimal, so its not visible to the eye.

lol, that would be VERY big… That would be bordering in the range
of 110-120GB for you.

Yes, CineForm would be the best codec to use if you don’t need to maintain the alpha channel. This is what ConeForm was designed to do (intermediate renders with no visible loss of quality) so absoltely use it if you have it. Sony MXF is also a good format to use for people who don’t have CineForm. If you need the alpha channel to be maintained use QuickTime PNG or Animation codec.
