I’m sorry but I’m really confused.

I do projects all the time with multiple video tracks (up to 10 or 12) and use 1 audio track and move clips around all the time so I’m not quite sure I understand what you mean.
Could you please clarify a bit?

sure you can. What I do (and I know there are probably 17 other ways to do it 😉 ) is to highlight the clip I want to move to the end, CONTROL X, then hit the F key to ripple the rest of the clips to the LEFT-I then go to the end of the timeline and click on it then hit CONTROL V to paste the clip in there. Works the same no matter where you want to place it.

the slider on the track level is just that. Track level adjustment. Of course the busses will also affect the track unless of course each clip is set on a seperate track and has a seperate bus.
The solution? Press “V” insert a volume envelope. Add points and adjust as needed.

did you set the KEY FRAME in the P/C window to the very beginning of the timeline? Sometimes I get too fast and it’s a few frames off the very first frame and causes a panning effect until it hits the key frame.

    Rich,
1 hr and 58 minutes for VBR with AC3 audio by my calculations should be around HIGH:8,000,000 AVERAGE: 4,826,000 and LOW: 2,000,000.
What rates did you use? Curiosity has me now 😉

if you are using the readings from DVDA to get your final readings (IE the red and yellow bars in the lower right dorner with the size in gb of the project) DON’T!
It is a gross overestimation of the actual size of the project and is anything but accurate. Why? No one really knows but it’s been like that for as long as I can remember.
If the BR calculator says to use a certain BR for VRB then thats what to use (remember to figure in the audio track as well-be it PCM or DVDAs preferred AC3) If you think it’s too big then check out the file size in the explorer. That’ll be 100% accurate.

for the AC3 you can use the setting of 192 the bitrate pertains to the video side and it is determined by the time length of the project. For example a 60 minute project using AC3 audio (DVDArch preferred type of audio and it is also a smaller file) using a variable bitrate would be set at 8,000,000-8,000,000 and for the low end I alsways set mine to 2,000,000.
For a 120minute project using AC3 audio the bitrates would be (high)8,000,000 – (average) 4,826,000 and (low) 2,000,000.
If you use the proper bitrate the video will be fine. As for rendering 2 times well you are but you’re not. You are rendering twice but once for the AC3 audio and once for the video at the correct bitrate. AC3 renders very very quickly so it’s not a gruesome job.

no, simply click on the sanp arrow on the tool bar and you should e all set. The reason I suggested Mike method is just to make sure. I honestly can’t remember how my preferences are set and I’m not by my edit machine so I just wanted to make sure.
You should be good by simply clicking on the snapping arrow and then bring in the clips

Well first do what Mike suggested then when using the snap tool the clips should snap head to tail – I don’t understand why they would disolve or overlap when using the sanp tool unless you have the preferences set to do something else.
The clips should just pop right into place.

is the harddrive you are rendering to formatted as FAT32 or NTSF? FAT32 will automatically give you a 2 gig limit and then start a new clip-If it is formatted as that reformat the drive and you should be back to business.
