If all your decks have SDI, capture through a card like Kona or Decklink. Keep it all at the same rez. & you won’t have a problem. Yes, you will waste disk space but it all comes down to dollars. A fully loaded FCP is $20-30K less than Adrenaline. With the left over $ you could buy a $1000 SDI Cobalt Digital converter for your Beta, enough extra hard drive space & get another DV deck with SDI & still have some left over. Adrenaline is buggy, over priced & for the money, lacks features. Xpress Pro with mojo is way to slow for anything other than DV25.

Thanks. What about a blue line on top of my audio clip? I heard that it’s bad.

Creating boxes in FCP can be a pain. For $10 you can simplify this process.
    Try the DH_Box filter @ https://www.digitalheaven.co.uk/indexflash.htm

18 months & 2 motherboards later and our Adrenaline is still buggy. We took the plunge a few months ago. We now have 2 FCPs & I’m getting a few more. I could not justify the cost with buying a third Adrenaline & Unity especially with the stability issues.

    Good move Chris.

I used Combustion when I had my Discreet system, they worked well together. When I got rid of the system I moved to AE. Everybody has it & knows it. If you want to get more jobs, learn AE. If you want to hire freelancers, use AE. It’s the standard.

I did some research on SANs & I ended up going with Terrablock https://www.facilistech.com . It has more bandwidth (faster), less administration, less money & a snap to setup as compared to the XSAN or anything else on the same level.

The only thing that you give up is that 2 people cannot work on the same project at the exact same time. One person has to back out of the project & give it to the other for finishing.

Also, the person who developed the Terrablock was one of the original designers of Avid’s Unity.

    I HIGHLY recommend.
