    Hi,
Planning to purchase 3rd-party juice for my FCP, for the purpose of film look effect, for 3D, for using Lighting, for more ready to use smooth fancy transitions, more generators, more motion & visual effects…

What are the must-own gadget(s)? Can one Boris Red, or Affect effect serve them all, or do I need to get all the others, like CGM, Sapphire… What are the most cost effective ones? If I aim two or three for now, and budget allowed, which one would you recommend? What’s your favorite juice?

Thank you all for the input!

    [zhuang mu] “film look effect”

Nattress Film Effects, Magic Bullet Editors 2

    [zhuang mu] “for 3D”

INSIDE FCP? Maya for modelling, AE for manipulating.

    [zhuang mu] “for using Lighting”

A light kit with lights. You mean in POST? I don’t get this one.

[zhuang mu] “for more ready to use smooth fancy transitions, more generators, more motion & visual effects…”
If I could afford them, I’d get the Sapphire effects. But I rely on Joe’s Filters, Nattress film effects, CGM Film LE, Eureka.

But really, I don’t get all that fancy. Maybe the typical Blur/Flash…but only when ordered to.

Digital Film Tools has some plug-ins that can add some post lighting effects. The underline means it is a link.

    Inquiring minds,

I used Combustion when I had my Discreet system, they worked well together. When I got rid of the system I moved to AE. Everybody has it & knows it. If you want to get more jobs, learn AE. If you want to hire freelancers, use AE. It’s the standard.

And the New AE 7 has a lot of stuff built in these days. FCP, a copy of PS, and AE. Buy some fancy plugins for AE. I don’t like working with plugins in FCP. Too slow.

These are pricey plug-ins so go through the bundles at their website to see what they all do.

I got them all, but that was during a half price sale.

    Cheers,
