Not getting a result with any kind of light! Why???!!! Why doesn’t the light fall off naturally across the cubes? The top left of each cube is more illuminated than the bottom right. Is this a fault in C4D? It’s not how things happen in reality. Is there a workaround or fix?

I’ve already got that – my kid watches it a lot, haven’t looked at the making of bit yet. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks to all. Using a motion favourite worked great.

You need to use selection sets. For example, if you had a cube, you would make it editable, then in polygon mode select one face. Then choose set selection from the selection menu (right at the bottom). A red triangle will appear in the object manager to the right of your cube object. Now drag the .psd material onto your cube in the object manager. Now in the texture tag properties window you will see a field called Selection. Drag the red selection set triangle onto that field. This will now restrict the texture to that polygon/face. Do the same with all the other faces using your different textures.

Badly explained, but I hope you can follow my ramblings.

You could make the gun and turret children of a null object, then add a target tag to the null, set this to target another null. You just need to get the objects in the gun turret in the right order in your heirarchy. Xpresso could handle this in a more elegant way, but I’m not much good at it yet!

Sorted it by upgrading to 9.1. Over and out.

  • In c4d it’s called the object axis. To move it, make the object editable, then use the object axis tool to position it. Snap settings can be used to snap it to a corner or edge.
