Deep Sea Query
Slightly OT this one… I’m storyboarding some 3D sequences for a pitch involving deep sea rescue and submarines. I need references and ideas. It’s more of a 3D job, but will involve compositing and grading in AE.
Which movies should I be looking at? (Thought of Crimson Tide, K19, The Abyss so far)
Are there any sites with examples of other companies sub sea 3D work?
Are there any tutorials for this kind of thing? The modelling should be ok, it’s the specific deep underwater look I’m concerned about.
Any leads would be gratefully recieved.

Try to get ahold of Pixar’s Finding Nemo DVD, they have a nice making of on there in which they speak about creating all sorts of underwater effects. Nothing too technical, but it might give you some ideas!

I’ve already got that – my kid watches it a lot, haven’t looked at the making of bit yet. Thanks for the tip.
