If you kow somebody that has a Media Composer, borrow the disc from them. ML comes free with MC and Symphony.

I have access to both in a daily basis, FCP/G5 definetly renders slower than Avid/xw8000.

Gary, most major Hollywood films are cut 24p – not 23.976 – with Avid Film Composer.
Choosing between the two depends on many little factors – the biggest being how is sound being handled. -

Is 4:4:4 that really big of a deal? It may be for a niche market, but for everyday use I would suspect stability, speed, robustness, media management, flexibility, etc are more important.
Adrenaline on the PC is my vote.
I have used and supervise shows on both. -
DVC Pro HD captured via firewire remains as DVC Pro HD. The process is exactly like DV.
You can render FX and import material using the DNxHD codec instead of DVC Pro HD. -
You must recreate titles that has already been corrupted.

Your user settings is probably corrupt.
Rebuild them or use another setting.
Next time, back up your user settings. When you get Title Tool corruption, quit out of Avid. Drop your archive user setting in the User Folder. Restart Avid. You are up and running in 1 minute.

I don’t know for sure. Specifics have been limited. Batch capture sure be standard. I know some manufacturers are having issues with HDV and batch capture in general, but I think it is imperative for Avid to solve this.
