Even if FCP is 4:4:4 with Black magic and AVID is just 4:2:2:?

Is 4:4:4 that really big of a deal? It may be for a niche market, but for everyday use I would suspect stability, speed, robustness, media management, flexibility, etc are more important.

Adrenaline on the PC is my vote.
I have used and supervise shows on both.

    Hi tomas,
could you ask this again in a few weeks when the FinalCut Suite has been delivered ?
I was told at an NAB post event that APPLE has worked on media management a lot.
This will be the first thing to check when it arrives.
If MM has been improved the suite package is a huge step.
Motion’s MIDI control (and 32bit float) are quite exciting for example.

    Greetings

So You have to decide between FCP 4.5 and Adrenaline.
Money is not important…….you want to start working right away…..a company will install the complete system for you….
    I’d go Adrenaline. No question.

    Greetings
    Uwe

We have both in a Broadcast setting. The Avid is on the PC side, FCP of course on the MAC. Cost is a factor. The money you save on the “better” machine can be put back into your business. Both do very well, both are stable. It really depends on your work model. If you have more experience on a Mac go with that. PC, then go there. I like FCP more. I like Mac more. I trust the hardware and the software more. It’s years ahead of windows/intel. FCP is very flexible for me. The best advise offered by many is try them out and decide that way. Deciding by a sales pitch, other users’advise or whatever is never the best way to spend your money.

I may be late with my reasoning here but here goes. We/ I had 4 adrenalines (not my choice client crap) now I am down to 0 adrenalines, and 4 FCP hd’s. we used the AA for 1 year, i lost so much time, money and life with them crapping out and a host of other BS, PC crap. do your self a favor dont buy your fathers car, do you get what I am saying. you will regret it, and I will be the first to say it. look at it this way FCP made everyone else compete with FCP, thats why avid made the DV and then the adrenaline. if it wasnt for FCP they would have never done any of that, it’s like a DSL line v.s. cable modem all the hype but the same slow service.
