January 17, 2009 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Hints for shooting a Drumset in front of a GreenscreenThanks. You are right.
I forgot to mention something:We will shoot this in the studio of our university. It’s a huge greenscreen (about 25 Yards wide and 6 Yards high) and we have about 20 Lights hanging from the roof, completely adjustable in direction, position, intensity and falloff.
So light is no problem.
The XL-H1 is a HDV Camera but can shoot in 25p/50i in Full-HD (1920*1080).I have greenscreen and also rockband/music video expreriences but not in combination instruments <-> greenscreen.
I know that I’ll use a minimum shutter of 1/250sec (no problem with our lights).
Still not decided if 25p or 50i (intelaced would be better for slow-motion I think).I just have the problem of the reflective materials.
What about some diffusing film/foil or something? Or should I place the drumset on a black carpet instead of just the greenscreeen (the greenscreen is also on the floor)? I think I saw this in some greenscreen band shootings as well…More tips/hints for me?
Thank you

July 29, 2008 at 10:22 am in reply to: Can’t open over 100 GB quicktime files using DNxHD codecI have the latest version of DNxHD downloaded yesterday. I’m also guessing that the file is corrupt….
Does QT have a filesize limitation? To be honest, I never saw files bigger than 100GB….the smaller ones are working fine (one is 70GB and one just 2 GB)
Thanks

July 29, 2008 at 8:23 am in reply to: Can’t open over 100 GB quicktime files using DNxHD codecWe use Windows XP Professional 64bit and the newest Version of Quicktime.
But we also tried it on a Mac (I think Mac OSX 10.4). Didn’t work, too. Thanks

The framerate of 18fps shown in QT is the actual framerate of the clip.
We think that the capturing was the problem. Seems like we captured it in 10bit with black magic and this exceeded the data rate of the harddrive as well as the power of the cpus which had to convert it on the fly to the PhotoJPEG-Quicktime. So you are right with the data rates. We used the SDI interface as well, which was wrong, too (our editor said so).
We’ll have to recapture the stuff again. This time using the firewire connection. We’ll capture it with the Apple HDV-Codec using FCP (settings to HDV1080p25) and then convert it to the PhotoJPEG. Let’s hope we get rid of the drop frames this time…:(
Thanks

Yeah everything else works fine.
There’s also enough head room for windows and other apps so this seems not to be the problem…
Since I’m working on AE Version 7 there is no multi processor support… -
I’ve done the same thing a while ago. I used 3D Stroke to make the body of the arrow.
With 3D Stroke the line (which you can make as thick as you want) bends in the curves of the path. You just have to put the arrow head in front of the body and limit the body length with the Start/End-Parameters in 3D Stroke. -
Me 2 having the same problem.
And for me its a quicktime with FOTO-JPEG Compression which works without problems in AE 7 Pro
I tried turning off OpenGL but didnt help. OpenGL-Info says everything is supported.
Any Idea?

Hey nice one! Do you have a template for the Particle Illusion effect? I think I don’t got PI, but Particular and Particle World…
Here you got the raw footage (70MB, JPEG 90% Compression)

Show me what you can do with this 😀

“I’d also recommend creating a particle vaccuum into the characters hands.”
I don’t know exactly what you mean with the vacuum. Could you explain it a bit further, please? Thanks!
Here a new version:

You’re right with the lightning. It should be gone after the ball is pushed away from the hands.
I’m also workin on a Mr. Bison-like teleport-effect at the same time. Should not be that difficult. It will be followed by the Sonic Boom from Guile/Charlie and the Ha-do-ken, viewed from the opponents directon 😉
