  • Can’t open over 100 GB quicktime files using DNxHD codec

    Hi,

I got a somehow strange problem:
We got 4 Quicktimes on a portable hard disk. Two of them are under 100 gigabyte and two are above.
We can open the two under 100 gigabyte and also play them (after installing the DNxHD codec) but when we try to open the files bigger than 100 GB we got a QT-error (-2048) saying quicktime doesn’t understand the file format.

The movie inspector of quicktime just says Avid 1:1x under Format but we were told it’s the DNxHD codec which I believe, too because we weren’t able to play any of the quicktimes before installing the codec.

Can someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you very much

What operating system are you using?

What version of Quicktime are you using?

We use Windows XP Professional 64bit and the newest Version of Quicktime.
But we also tried it on a Mac (I think Mac OSX 10.4). Didn’t work, too.

    Thanks

The error code -2048 relates to not having the correct codec installed.

So it could be that you don’t have the latest DNxHD codecs installed – they are on version 1.9 as of June 23rd.

If that’s not it, and you have the latest versions of everything, the files could be corrupt.

I have the latest version of DNxHD downloaded yesterday. I’m also guessing that the file is corrupt….

Does QT have a filesize limitation? To be honest, I never saw files bigger than 100GB….the smaller ones are working fine (one is 70GB and one just 2 GB)

    Thanks

There’s no file size limit that I know of for Quicktime.
