[Rich Rubasch] “We are very much shared here on 5 FCP systems. Shared files on every computer all gigabit ethernet….major issue here.”

    Final Cut Pro X?

Also I don’t know much about Xsan but there is a simple code fix that allows FCPX to see Xsan volumes. If you search for it I’m sure you will find it.

  • Not much timecode support in this version, hopefully in the next update.

July 1, 2011 at 2:42 am in reply to: New rumor: Apple to abandon FCPX

[Tom Wolsky] “A couple of years Steve Jobs announced at an Apple keynote that Apple is a mobile device company. There is no place for apps like FCP and Logic in a mobile device company.”

What he said that they were the largest mobile device company in the world. Not that they were a mobile device company. There is a difference, not that their focus hasn’t changed to mobile devices.

Coming from a Windows background after moving to Mac OSX I will never go back. It just works right, could not stand all the crashes involved with Windows machines. My PC buddies thought I was crazy using power management, but have never had an issue with on my Macs. Also rumors our they are about to release a 16 core system with the new lion.

Maybe, but I think you missed the real point for this forum. The FCPX forum is basically for bashing FCPX, FCPX Techniques is for those who are giving it a chance.

Hopefully this will change in the next update. You can still edit from the Network by not coping your files to the Events folder, and then copy your Events to the drive after your edit. With the new system I would think it would be easier for Apple to share projects with others being more Metadata driven. But for now we’ll just have to wait and see.

June 25, 2011 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Apple’s strategic focus going forwards?

Apple in changing it’s name just didn’t want to limit itself to Computers. To say it’s just a mobile company would defeat the purpose of their name change. Look at Sony they do a lot of everything, actutally a little too much of everything if you ask me but thats how a lot of Japan companies work. Still Apple makes a ton selling computers and is actually growing when the industry as a whole is going down and that’s not counting iPads either.

June 23, 2011 at 3:00 pm in reply to: All the rants about no Multicam?

A lot of people used Media Composer to do multicam, besides when you cut 300+ programs a certain way over the years and have your workflow down pat you don’t want to go backwards. I look forward to an updated Mutlitcam workflow with better performance but I pray that they don’t mess with it too much. Get someone that works with Multicam to help design it not some engineer who has very little production background to dictate how it’s done.
