The Xserve Raid may be a little high but the redundancy is worth it. I’ve had mine up and going for over 2 years straight and have had only 1 drive go bad and after a 24hours it fixed itself. It’s a workhorse! And when compared to comparable drives it’s way less expensive.

“The software will be available free of charge online from https://www.sony.com/xdcamhd and will be demonstrated by both companies during a 12-city tour that begins June 28.”

I searched myself and didn’t find anything then I went back to the article and saw “will be available”. Oh well, at least it’s free.

Have you seen the Updated FCP webpage “Edit Anything”? An Apple rep is demoing the Software at Sony’s booth. I’ve looked for the download on Sony’s site, I think they are waiting for 5.1 to be released.

Apple also said yesterday that they will be adding a FXplugin that will run off of Core Video like Motion. They said that it would be released at a later time though.

April 25, 2006 at 1:47 pm in reply to: NAB- Sony Supports XDcam with FCP 5.1

An Apple rep at the Sony booth demonstrated it. Also Apple has updated there FCP website. Check out the “Edit Anything” it talks about Sony supporting the XDcam HD but didn’t say anything about SD. But I talked to the guys yesterday and they had both the SD and HD Deck and were demoing both. Sony has not released the Software yet for download, I think they are waiting for FCP 5.1.

Hellow… was anybody listening? They announced with 5.1 they would be supporting HD XDcam and without the help of Telestream. Sony now supports SD Xdcam and HD Xdcam on Mac OSX free. You will also be able to export to XDcam.

Sony seams to be straying away from SX, Digibeta and of course SP. IMX is King of the SD realm. Their Video File Transfer over IP at 2.5x realtime. Is the Best. Get the eVTR MXF file transfer option.
