Nevermind to what I said, I read the white papers on the FCP6 site and looks good. However I would still like to see Native HDcam editing. Unfortunately Xpri is the only one that does this.

I think the ProRes422 is cool, but it would make more sense to me just to add a SDTI for Native ingest of HDcam footage and support Mixed timeline of HDcam and DVCpro HD. This box seems to be geared more for the Film guys.

I saw the TC I/O. Does it support Live capture?

You will have to import it into a 4×3 timeline, distort the 16×9 footage to -33.33 so that it isn’t distorted on the timeline, scale it up to 133% I believe. Then you will have to do a full render so that the dark green render bar is dark blue. I’ve noticed that this will get the best results.

IMX30 is a much better alternative to DV with roughly the same size just a little bigger and almost visually lossless and still 4:2:2. About the same as DV50 but it’s 720×486 not 720×480. It was developed by Sony so it should have a good transfer for PAL/NTSC. Supported by FCP 5.1. We use IMX50 and love it, can’t tell the difference between it and ucompressed 8bit but a qtr of the size.

With the 8 core Mac Pro with new quad 4gbs fibre cards already out, I would expect an update to Xserve Raid.

If you encode it to the IMX 50 or 30 from the SDI feed depending on how much space you want to save. IMX 50 is Virtually lossless at a qtr of the space that Uncompressed 8bit is. We use IMX for just about everything here and cannot tell the diff between the 2. IMX 30 is amlost lossless when viewed on a Broadcast Monitor, it’s so much better than DV at roughly the same bandwidth.

Final Cut Pro + Final Touch + New Asset Management Software+no More support for Shake+Many disappointed people at NAB last year with Avid coming out with a software only version of Adrenaline = FCP 6 or Better
