Posted by Aja Sales department on April 16, 2007 at 2:23 amHello,
From the NAB show floor in Las Vegas, we are pleased to announce Io HD, the next generation of our popular Io series, delivering HD editing to the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro via its unique Firewire 800 (IEEE-1394b) interface. Io HD is the first and only device to natively support Apple

April 16, 2007 at 2:35 amReally cool stuff, and congrats to the whole team at AJA for creating another great piece of gear.
What about Kona HD cards – how do they deal with the ProRes codec?

April 16, 2007 at 2:47 amHello,
Apple ProRes 422 is supported in the same way as other supported codecs in FCP, like DVCPRO-HD…KONA 3, etc. can write to directly to it, and and of course play it back.
Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a fun show!
Thank you,

April 16, 2007 at 2:51 amWill the new box ONLY support the Pro422 codec or can it send a signal with another codec such as DVCProHD or SD uncompressed?
Thanks!

April 16, 2007 at 6:38 amHi,
Io HD also supports SD uncompressed, 8-bit and 10-bit, as well as DV25 and DV50 in Final Cut Studio. Basically, it’s ProRes 422 for HD, and then in SD it supports everything the original Io does!

April 16, 2007 at 11:17 pmWow, that is excellent news, now I imagine FCP6 will be able to handle the non-VTR structure of this?
Is ProRes422 good enough to capture live?
Just curious…

April 17, 2007 at 8:04 amI just ordered the upgrade to FC Studio 2 but I also ordered the Adobe production Studio, so I’m anxious to know whether the IO HD will also work with Premiere Pro on a Mac Pro

April 17, 2007 at 8:55 amit’s a little tightly branded with Apple. i would not hold my breath nor expect it to work with primary editors outside of FCP.
