We have been using it for over 3 year with no problems, there are a lot of people using via XDCam disc. But it is not just limited to XDCAM you can capture in the IMX codec with the AJA cards. Flip 4 Mac makes a product for $500 but Sony has a converter for free that encodes or decodes at 12x realtime on Intel Macs.

IMX 50 or 30 are alternative solutions to ProRes. IMX 50 is 4:2:2 and is virtually losless. IMX 30 is a 4:2:2 solution to DV. The naked eye cannot tell the difference between IMX50 and UC, and you have a 1/4 the space taken up.

It also comes with a “flux capacitor”! You must be a Sony guy, Ikegami has had flat screen CRTs for years now.

Where did the MXF files originate from? Sony has a free download that supports anything that was created from their decks or cameras. Flip4Mac also has some software plugins but run around $499 each. The P2 cards are supported free also.

Actually you can with Picture Ready. But will have to buy 2 Servers per Camera in order to do it.
http://www.pictureready.com. With Telestream coming out with there Pipeline Quad I don’t think it will be long before you will be able to do this though.

We’ve been using the XDCam SD PDW 1500 decks for 3 years now with FCP and have no complaints. Fast transfers over ethernet, and high quality.

Usually it’s 30sec of bars at -20db tone with your audio peaking no higher than -10db. 10sec of slate, 10 sec of black, countdown then your program. Some stations still require the setup at 7.5 even though they are excepting it digitally. That’s why as Walter stated you need to check with the station, don’t feel stupid asking them, they are usually pretty helpful and greatful that someone actually asked.

I believe you will have to change the crop from Top 4 and bottom 2 to Top 0 and bottom 6 in Compressor
