Did you get to the thread via email. I can see them from there but if you navigate to it from the main page all references to Pro App Sales are gone even from other threads in the FCP forum.

There was a thread about Apple selling their Pro Apps last week now it’s gone. Did Apple contact the cow to cut it? I don’t know maybe I went blind and just can’t find it.

    2 Thoughts,

    1. Apple has alienated 2 of it’s biggest partners Avid and Adobe with it’s own Pro Apps both were mainly Apple based until they started there own Pro Apps. The only thing Apple hasn’t done is make a Photoshop alternative although Aperture is fairly close. This has never made sense to me, they were competing against their own partners.

2nd is they could be selling FCPs code since it is 32bit Carbon base and not 64, and re-porting a whole new FCP from the ground up. I wouldn’t bet on this one though.

Sorry, I was going off my earlier thread that with Apple not coming to NAB and Final Cut Server due for release. They must really be cutting costs since it is more of a broadcast piece of software. The whole reason they bought it is so they can compete with Avid in the broadcast realm. Maybe they will announce it the week before or the week of NAB just to show their support for broadcast without spending millions of dollars at the show.

Oh they will be coming out with a 64 bit but not this year and maybe not next year. With FC Server not done yet and NAB a great place to showcase it, being a broadcast product, it’s all about stock price.

With Apple not showing up at NAB I would highly doubt it.

As much as Apple stock has tanked this past month and how they have cut sale projections, there trying to cut as much cost as possible and it’s unlikely that they will be coming out with anything new, which means FC Server will be out before April. I am planning on going and was hoping for something new this year, hopefully I won’t be lured over to the dark side (Avid).

How did you acquire the footage? IMX tape through E-VTR, XDCam? What software are you using to decode the MXF? Sony, Flip 4 Mac?

It will stay raided even in software. We have a raid 50; 2 raid 5s software raided together at raid 0 and have had no problems switching between our G5 and Mac Pro during the upgrade. We have done so between 3 different computers and the Raid did not separate.
