Possibility of FCS-3
Posted by Bob Carpenter on February 9, 2008 at 4:33 amJust wondering if there is a good possibility of FCS-3 this year. I’m just thinking a 64 bit version would do wonders for speed and better use of multiprocessors.

Either there’s nothing to show or Apple is pulling a brilliant marketing plan. I don’t expect an FCS3 because it took two years for Studio 2 to develop.
I do muse on the possibility of the long rumored “Extreme” making an appearance in my blog….

Oh come on. Just because they don’t show up doesn’t mean they have stopped developing. An overwhelming majority of FCP users find out information through other avenues rather then going to the big show in the desert.

February 9, 2008 at 8:36 pmEven the Cow isn’t attending NAB 2008. And the Creative Cow community is as viable as ever.
As Avid had pointed out earlier, they’re able to reach their customer base in other ways.
NAB, however, can’t be beat for a hands-on experience when it comes to hardware. And whenever I attend most of my time is spent at the seminars trying to soak up as much useful info as possible.

February 9, 2008 at 9:19 pmOh they will be coming out with a 64 bit but not this year and maybe not next year. With FC Server not done yet and NAB a great place to showcase it, being a broadcast product, it’s all about stock price.

February 9, 2008 at 9:22 pmI would hope they’d fix FinalCut Studio 2 before they do a 3. The last year has been agonizing. I am afraid to do updates anymore. It seems like anytime they do come out with an update I end of having to reinstall the old version.

Showcase it where? No Apple Booth so they’ll have to “showcase’ it somewhere else.
