I’m thinking about asking a client if she can send us masters on XDcam (IMX 50mbps) instead of digibeta. The amount of time wasted capturing and mastering tapes is really getting out of control.

These projects are simple EPKs. No editing, no effects, no color correction. It seems like the perfect gig for XDcam.

I know that FCP has to convert MXF files. Does this take a long time? I mean, does it defeat the purpose for saving tame ingesting?

    Hi Sean,
I thinc you should ask in the “Cine Alta Forum” here in the Cow. There they are all the XDCam experts.
    Cheers,

We’ve been using the XDCam SD PDW 1500 decks for 3 years now with FCP and have no complaints. Fast transfers over ethernet, and high quality.

    Thanks. That’s good to know.

Let me add… XDCAM is much easier to work with than P2. All you need is the Sony Transfer software version 1.1 and you’re ready to go!
