The 40 employees were support staff for FCP and not actual engineers that where originally reported.

I know how people don’t like rumors but the last one I read seemed right on the money with FCS3 in that it wasn’t a major update. Since FCP has to be re-written in Cocoa 64-bit (Currently Carbon 32) the re-written FCP was too buggy to release last year so they released a minor update or fixes. Apple stopped attending NAB along with all major trade shows including MacWorld, they did this so that they could release products on their own time table. I would suspect that we will see a new version by mid summer.

Telestreams Pipeline encoder is the only option that I know of that will let you cut mulitcam live in FCP. But only works with SDI feeds and not HDV capture.

Even if it is true that they laid them off it’s probably due to them finishing up on a major overhaul.

If you can get a T1 line at each location you can encode a high resolution H.264 feed around 4-6mb/s and have better than DVD quality. Viewcast makes a streaming server box that you might want to check out that can do this. We sent a 1mb/s WMV stream to an offsite location and looked decent, 4-6mb/s H.264 would look way better.

If they are in the same price range as Sony or Ikegami, I would go with Ikegami. Better skin tone reproduction. If your shooting sports Sony’s or GV maybe the way to go. -
I’ve never captured via HDMI but sounds like a sync problem. Do you see the same green line when playing out from the HDMI onto a monitor? Is your editor hooked up to a sync source, if not you might need to dabble with some of the sync settings on you decklink card.

IMX30 maybe another codec to look at. It’s 422 but at DV bitrates.

Try reinstalling your KONA software, I’m not 100% certain on this but I think FCP uses AJA’s flavor of IMX when the card is installed. We just upgraded to FCS3 and all is well with our IMX footage of course it NTSC.
