Quick Time is compensating for the pixel aspect ratio, computers use square pixels while IMX NTSC uses round or oval pixels, thus QT is having to change the aspect so that it looks correct, otherwise it would look squished. Your video is still encoded at 720×486 even though it may not play at 720 on a computer screen.

We’ve used compressor many times over to compress from UC or Pro Res to IMX50 with zero issues. Sounds like either the frame rate is off or somehow the video is being re-sized.

Shoot, the mac mini specifically points out Jumbo Frames and the iMac does not. So what does that tell us.

Telestream’s Pipeline encoder will actually let you cut in FCP live, but at 10k per box (2 HD streams, or 4 SD) may not be worth it.

Gearing FCP for consumers or even for prosumers makes no sense whatsoever, they already have iMove. Why make another?
Maybe all the buzz will light a hotter fire under their butts to get it out sooner.

The other day I sent a Pro Res SD project to Compressor and did a 2 pass encode, when imported into DVDSP the audio was longer than the Video. Went back and did a 1 pass encode and it worked fine. As far as interlacing problems I didn’t see any.

Thanks for the tutorial, but I work in both live and post productions and very familiar with how the process goes. Just answering Liam’s question, besides he never mentioned about needing to ad graphics land the such. As a capture device it is way more cost effective than an EVS system which in my opinion is way over priced and unless your using it for live replay then there are better solutions.

10 grand to capture two HD channels at once. Whats the point of trying to switch a two camera show live? I doubt it would be possible to watch the footage come in, do replays, graphs, and mix on the fly with this box and FCP even if you could kludge it together, in a way that it resembled ‘live’, or ‘live to tape’.
You could do a lot more show with a 10 grand budget and a truck. Even 5G’s would get you an ok show, with a small truck or a flypack switcher. Scott SheriffWell I didn’t say it was practical for a single show, I was just answering the question, “Can you do a multicam live?”. You can hook several up together and cut live via FCP. To my understanding someone recently cut an Elton John concert with this setup. Checkout the demo on the Pipeline page.

Yes, you can capture live and edit in mulitcam live via Telestream’s Pipeline Encoder.
