I agree that the UI could use a bit of updating. However, when we added the graphing view in AE CS2, not many people really gravitated towards it. It’s a tricky proposition on how to update it and guarantee acceptance. Good thing today is that the key framing is powerful and familiar.
If you have ideas about how it should be done, be sure to file a feature request…

Premiere Pro CS6 and above have significantly improved audio options to the point that I would characterize the forthcoming version as probably the most powerful audio capable NLE out there (though many will doubtless disagree).
As for testing the ‘cloud’ people, at least for Adobe you can download a free trial. CS6 is available today and presumably the next versions will be out at some point with a free trial as well. When they do, I suggest you give it a try and of course ask questions where needed.

I will chime in on one part of this one:
FCP X is powerful, it is here to stay, and it will be the dominant player 7 was. That is not a rumor, that is not the mindless ranting of a fanboy, that is not wishful thinking, that is the cold, hard fact, dear readers.
No, it is a cold, hard opinion – and nothing more. To state otherwise would be ‘ultra-maroonic’. 😉

A couple of quick things as I’m headed to the airport in about an hour…
1) you can get in touch with me privately by leaving a comment on my blog (blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/) or twitter (@TheGenesisProj). From there, I can email you and we can exchange data.
2) Don’t bother sending data to Apple about Premiere Pro as it won’t get to us. If you get a crash dialog from Premiere Pro though, DO send it.
3) It is the week of NAB, so while I aim to be as helpful as possible, this is a very difficult week. Just want to be honest here. 😉
4) Given the kinds of problems you have you might want to include your apple system profile when we exchange data.
5) In the absence of any other data, you might want to deactivate/uninstall your Adobe suite, run the Adobe cleaner program to erase any detrious bits, restart and reinstall.Cheers,

Steve, to be completely fair, I would argue that every NLE has ‘caught up’ with some features to every other NLE that’s out there. Great ideas do not work in a vacuum or at a single place. Case in point – Apple’s skimming feature and Adobe’s hover scrub feature. Pretty similar idea but coming at the same time from different companies.
Also, I’m proud to say that FCP/X has caught up to Premiere Pro and every other NLE by adding a source monitor…Teasing!
