Its a QT Problem, TC Breaks cause the nle to stop and search for the break. if you need the TC intact set Preroll to 3 sec and your “in” after the break (little more than 3 sec) and your “out” before the next break. its a pain in the ass but it has to do with no ltc input on the mac and qt not able to regenerate code from source(qt just runs with the tc after the input)

There is a color space problem. yuv colorspace has room for super whites and blacks whereas rgb only handles what you need. check your seq settings and process whites as white not super white. you can change the gamma in your quick time within FCP in item properties..

hold the “C” key down on the keyboard when you reboot. you might have to hold it for a while. that should force the computer to boot from the os on the CD..

colorspace issue? yuv codecs have more headroom than rgb, that might explain the cropped superwhites. anyhow, i noticed a gamma shift from FCP6 ProrezHQ to AE CS3 but it was fixable by an adjustment layer and tweeking the gamma to 1.24.

if you are getting tv reception from an antenna, you’ll need an atsc reciever. the feds are pulling the old frequencies(sp) and creating new ones with more bandwidth..

No. TV Analoge broadcast is only affected. The stations and head ends will recieve TV content the same way via tape or digital delivery.

  • DVCProHD is really compressed anyways. its a 4×3 420 100mb/s image that they play with the pixel aspect ratio to create a 16×9 image. I’ve seen good results in manufacture’s nailing their SDI outputs and i’ve seen bad firewire too. I’d suggest doing a test bothways, put them in the same time line and apply a difference filter to the top layer. that will show you the difference where as black is perfect.

  • If you go firewire you are not going to hurt your file rez from your deck at all. You simply are tranfering the video in its native codec to your drive. That being said you can capture from HD-SDI straight to DVCProHD Codec. For me it would depend on where the deck is in relation to my Mac,long firewire cables are hard to find and coax is easy to run.

isnt there a built in down converter on HD decklink cards?
