“Who’s on First”
I had one support person just close the chat, then yesterday, after waiting 5 1/2 hours for a call back, got a lady i could not hear she spoke so quiet and then …. after asking her to please speak up she hung on me.

I already did that, but there are no pre-sets in the list.

Had the same problem, went round and round with customer service and got nowhere.I was seriously ready to request a refund. Then last night in one last attempt on a different computer a screen came up that asked me to choose a store, it had pull downs and I chose my country United States and then in the second pulldown accidentally chose the first option, Home/Office I think, once I did that, then a page came up with all of the products, I chose “Upgrade” on my product and this time it went into the shopping cart with the upgrade price slashed out and zero total and I was able to complete the upgrade.
I don’t know wht they have to make this so difficult.

Darby,
Thanks for the input. My problem was the collapse transformation button. That button gives me fits for a variety of reasons I won’t go into here.
1 – Yes I would have effects applied to the main text layer. Usualy a bevel on the face copy and the back copy.
2 – Your method is very cool and elegant way of handling this.I love the way the refelection reacts to camera moves. I REALLY dig the use of the radial gradient for the floor.
3 – After much experimentation I came up with this method. I had two problems, one was getting the text reflection to work right. But, if I bring the text in to the main comp, duplicate it and rotate it 180 degrees, then instead of using the VC reflect or the linear wipe, I use a mask on the reflect copy and then feather the mask and lower the transparency, then when I parent the reflect copy to the original, the reflections stays perfectly no matter where you put it in space and no matter what the camera does
As a side note, you use light for color, if you make the floor and the text faces white, then key frame the light color, you get the the changes in color across the comp over time. Additionally, since the video in the example below on the screen is in a sub comp and then the “collapse Transformation” button is on for the video frame in the main comp, if you turn off “accept lights” just for the footage in the screen, it is not effected by the light in the main comp, that causes a cool effect.

AK includes project files for his tutorials, but the video I referenced was a Promo/Test for Sure Target 2. Often I am more interested in how he did the promo, than the product itself.:-) For example, his promo for Bullet.
I will keep experimenting with your suggestions.

I appreciate the reply. I am running AE CS4 on an XP machine in 32 bit with ram maxxed at 2 gigs.
Perahps I am missing something, but parenting the floor to the camera, makes it looks as though the floor never moves no matter what the camera does?
In the AK example, it appears as if the camera is moving through the environment, plus AK has manages to make it appear as iff the floor fades into the distance.
Can you point me to where I might learn about the expression for linking the camera?

I seemed to have fixed the problem by right-clicking each clip, selecting “Field Options” Then clicking “Always Deinterlace” Then render the MP2 out with Field Order set to: None(Progressive)
The I used DVD Architect. Imported the MP2. DVD Arch had to re-render the MP2, But the overall quality of the DVD is Pretty good.
The AE graphics are clean and the crisp. There are a few minor issues in areas where you have a lot of close lines on the screen like storage areas with peg boards or the industrial type storage shelfs that have a bunch of slots down the sides.
At this point I am not really certain what else to do o improve this any more.

Thanks for the reply.
1 – Field render was/is off in my AE renders
2 – In Premiere, when I right click a clip in the project list and choose Interpret footage, I see nothing about Fields. I get frame rate – Pixel Aspect Ratioand Alpha Channel info.
3 – The source and preview monitor settings are identical.I will try o do some screen caps this afternoon
Now, when I render out the final vid and set the output to “Progressive” I get dramatically better results.
