Thanks Tim, I will give it a try, BTW I have used that expression before and it is very handy.

Vegas 9 64 bit also on Parallells. It works fine, but doesn’t have some of the functionality of Preimiere Pro.
I can’t change out to the to the Mac version. You can legally install on two machines with one license if you don’t use them at the same time. But, both versions must be of the same operating system, I need the main workstation Win7 more, so I had to get the Win version, hence my problem. They won’t but me two versions.

I was wondering about both of those scenerios. Not Boot Camp, Parallells. My employer bought Adobe Productions Premium for Windows because my main work station is Win 7, but I often work away from that computer. Then they bought me a MacBook Pro for portability and to run Pro Tools 10 and interface with a firewire presonus board.
Tonight I will test this on my main workstation that has CUDA and an nVidia Card, but in the past I have had some of these problems on it as well.
Nestin the sequences just seems to make sense to me for keeping things organized. But if I can’t I can’t.

What I expect is to be able to edit and not have to do a preview render after every edit just to be able to see what I did smoothly and if the timing works without all of the stuttering.
I tried the experiment. If I play the files in their sequences they play fine. But when I had them into the master where I have titles, transitions and music then they stutter.
I did a preview render and they played fine, then extended a tutle a few frames, from the title on it would stutter.
I have a MacBook Pro 17 with 16 gigs of ram. As and experiment, I layered three of these files in Sony vegas and they play just fine with no stuttering. How does Vegas keep up and Premiere doesn’t?
One more thing … I have to use an external USB 2.0 drive. This could be part of the problem. But again, how can Vegas work with the same set up and no stuttering?

Unfortunately right now I am on a MacBook Pro 17 without CUDA on the video card. I am using a mix of .h264 MP4 and .mov files. I create sequences for the files and edit them and then I put the sequences in a final master sequence to edi them and add transitions.

Open AE CS6, make a comp and create a solid. The look under “Animation Presets/Backgrounds” in the preset panel and apply the first one. It will apply a number effects to the solid, one being fractal noise.
No twirl down the fractal noise options, at the top it says animation presets … in the pull down menu at the bottom is an option save animation preset, name it the same as the backround preset and save. Now you must do this for each background.
I found it faster and easier to just apply the BG preset and then turn off or delete the other effects. They are exactl;y the same as the fractal noise presets we had in other versions.

The product is actually a hardware device, they program in the text, pick the type of handwritten font, ot even sample a clients handwriting, then the hardware actually uses a pen and it writes out the message, letter etc.

I actually thought about having them do that, use the product and we actually see it write what they need. The problem is the expense of having the shooter come back out and do it.
What I have done, is explain the time it takes to do what they want and the expense f me doing it, which is slightly less than reshooting it and having one of their programmers set it all up.
So we have settled on 3 key scenes with me doing the write on, and then use the fade on character effect for the rest. It works pretty good.
I just thought I would ask. I have seen Maltannon, Dan Ebberts and others do some incredible things with expressions. Many times when I ask, somebody has figured it out. You never know until you ask.
