Looks like the text masking technique is my best bet then. Amazing all of the wonderful things AE can do, but this simple thing is not one of them

No, I never did getan answer. What I did is the fractal noise pre-sets are part of the “Effects & Presets Backgrounds” I simply opened each one then saved the fractal noise settings as FN presets and that worked pretty well.

I contacted the manufacturer, they wrote me back within minutes. They told me they are currently testing this and will have results posted on their site next week.
One thing I hadn’t noticed at first was that the PCIe on the box is only 4x, while the nVidia cards are 16x. I was told that they may still work. I will wait for the test results and hold out hope.
If I can get a unit to test I might just try it.

I don’t think that I can do that now that I have purchased CS6 single license for Windows.

Did you try clearing your browser cache, then clicking the link, it should then take you to the page where you choose your country and store. when choosing your store choose the first option, then it should work.
If, that doesn’t work, try downloading a completly new browser like that you don’t already have.
The problem appears to be that stupid embedded code and that it doesn’t translate if you have already visited a store.
Once I got to the page to choose the store it worked.

I have always had trouble getting the lights to behave and point in the correct direction when I moved them back in z space. I may just be dense. But I was trying to back light a 3D scene with a spot light and was getting frustrated because it wasn’t behaving as I expected.
Even this guy at Motionworks who demonstrates materials for the new AE6 mentions the frustration of controlling 3D lights.

I have watched most of the basic series and I have reviewed most of the Cow tutorials, but none that I found were on controlling lights. There are a lot of tutorials on controlling cameras and building camera rigs and I think lights are much more difficult than cameras.
