[Andy Taplin] ” here’s a really comprehensive article from a tester here in the UK:-

I must say that while this looks like a very interesting format, the tone of this article is just too full of over the top cheerleading. Some examples:

“Using XDCAM HD during the acquisition stage of a production is pure bliss…….. When you first put a blank disc into an XDCAM HD camcorder, there is a short delay whilst the disc is formatted. I found this was over in hardly any time at all; around 15 seconds, it wouldn

    Jamie,

Go to the View menu in Final Cut. Choose External Video (near the bottom) and make sure it’s set to All Frames. FCP has a nasty habit of resetting that menu to Off when you change A/V settings.

  • Jon,

How are you monitoring this stuff, both audio and video? When you turn on the timecode overlay, does it report the audio and video to be in sync?

    Jeremy,

My RS-422 device control works fine with a UVW-1800 and Quicktime 7.1.3, however my system uses device control via a Kona LH card and not a serial adaptor like you have. If it’s any help, near the bottom of the following linked page is a link to reinstall 6.5 from 7:

I’ll test my 1800 tomorrow and get back to you. I upgraded to 7.1.3 and haven’t used the RS-422 since, but I haven’t heard any grumblings about the QT upgrade either.

Can you test the computer with another deck or the deck with another 422 controller?

Sorry, I have to ask…. you checked the remote switch on the 1800? Reseated the cables?

  • [Sulaman Hameed] “3 or 4 sec. clip then outside the Capture Window…”

    Sulaman,

Are you saying your G5 captures for 3 or 4 seconds and then stops capturing?

    Does this happen every time?

Can you give other details like:
    Are you using Firewire?
What kind of drive are you capturing to?

I think people will need more details in order to make suggestions to help solve your problem.

    Regards,
    David
