February 7, 2018 at 6:04 pm in reply to: multi-cam sequence- navigating to a specific time code

    SOLVED –

    1. highlight your multi-cam sequence in the project window.
    2. right click the file and select “open in timeline”
    3. from the pull down menu just to the right of the project title in the timeline (3 horizontal lines) select “start time”
    4. change the sequence start time to whatever you want and save your work.

The multi-cam sequence will now display your custom time code.

  • I just had the same exact issue. I solved it by changing the render engine from Metal to OpenGL. You might also try using the Software Only mode as well, it’s slower, but doesn’t use your GPU.

    Hope this helps

You can also try to modify your clips: pull down menu- CLIP — MODIFY —- INTERPRET FOOTAGE and set your clip frame rate to whatever you are trying to match. I’ve had good luck using this method for editing in b-roll. This adjusts the actual length of the clip, so a 23.976 clip interpreted to 29.97 will playback in slow motion. You can also After Effects, MPeg Streamclip, or any one of a number of other tools to transcode the media to a common format.

I hadn’t thought of that, so thanks for that nugget of creativity. Unfortunately it behaved the exact same way. It has to be something in my machine and/or software. I may set up a new user account with nothing but PP/CC and see what happens.

From here on our, I guess I’ll have to shoot everything in 29.97 or 23.97 to avoid this issue. I can still use the 60p for specialty slo motion shots though, so things are not a total loss.

Your help is very much appreciated.

I’m having the same off-line AE issue. Were you able sort that problem out?

    Thanks,

October 20, 2014 at 2:36 pm in reply to: Saving a transition as a preset

Thanks so much for your help….

I am running premiere CC.2014.1 …. on a mac, does that matter?

for reference, here is a screen grab of my timeline, effects control window (with wipe selected) and also my premiere version info: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hjielvmrf020u1t/PREMIERE.PRO.pdf?dl=0

I”m new to PP…. Old hat with FCP and Avid so I’m sure it’s something I’m doing/not doing correctly.

    Thanks

Thank you for you help. The steps you gave were clearly outlined and I followed them exactly, unfortunately I do not see the option anywhere for “save as preset”

I must be doing something wrong.

  • I have the same problem and use an Imac exactly like yours. The one and only thing I have found that helps is to render the AE comps (be sure and check the “include project link”). Put those rendered clips in the timeline and then Premiere exports it lightning fast. If you have the project link box checked, you can use the “edit original” function in Premiere and it launches that AE comp for further editing. Maybe it’s a bug or something, but a file is a file is a file within the Adobe environment and should render the same no matter where it is. Hope we get this worked out

May 5, 2014 at 2:36 pm in reply to: MXF files in After Effects on Mac OS Mavericks

I had a similar problem. When I used the “replace clip with AE comp” command in Premiere pro CC, the MXF media from my Panasonic camera would often go offline. Here is the error message it returned: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8h01y6lsg4drt8/Screen%20Shot%202014-04-25%20at%2011.45.50%20AM.png

Here is a possible workaround. When working in FCP 7, I use a software called Raylight. It takes raw MXF files and creates quicktime aliases for each one (super fast too….like 15 seconds for a full 64GB card). Those aliases can be imported as source files in your editing system. It essentially tricks PP into thinking these are quicktime files and not mxf. It beats transcoding all your media to ProRes, which does work. So far – no problems.

    I hope this helps you.
