To capture directly, you can only use non controllable device.

There is driver software for the Mac Powerbook on the disc that comes with the camera, I believe.

Go to page E-13 of the install manual.

Best regards, and thanks for all your solid contributions here and elsewhere.

Looking forward to the release of the civil war documentary.

My understanding is the device is tethered to an iPod and converts firewire DV or HDV footage into mpeg4 video for an iPod.

May 1, 2006 at 10:48 pm in reply to: P2 VIEWER FOR MAC!

I’ve been working with HD Log for about three days now.

An impressive piece of software. It didn’t initially support 24P or 24pn, but the developer released an update.

There are additional features and enhancements expected reasonably soon.

I don’t know what the PC version does in comparison, but this is pretty slick, and promises to get slicker.

However, I believe Panasonic owes its Mac users with a fundamental P2 viewer to make it on par with the PC.

Why develop a PC only viewer and bundle it with the cam, but leave Mac users without any comparable version.

Maybe Panasonic might want to explain why it DID develop software, but only for ONE platform. Jan?

$700.00 isn’t cheap. But each of us has to determine what our workflow is, and how much we are willing to pay for it.

We are absolutely delighted taking 720/24pn to SD DVD.

    Thanks Barry.

I am certain that this slight ambiguity will be clarified in your upcoming book.

Then, we are supposed to use the remote to stop recording, and the manual is wrong or confusing about where the stop button is located?

April 18, 2006 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Exporting from FCP to P2 Card

In FCP 5.0.4, there isn’t any rendering using p2 cards and footage with the HVX200.

And you get a real time desktop cinema preview.

This is also true in 5.1.

The difference is being able to wrap a sequence ina mxf wrapper and drag it onto a mounted p2 card.

    NAB is next week.
