Should you ever try to use Soundtrack Pro you will encounter the same issue. Make certain to set Input Audio to something othet than Deckilnk in its Prefs too or you’ll be stuck. I spent the entire morning woking on that silly issue myself, and it was Peter’s message to you that cleared it up for me.

[Patrick McLoad] “I use DeckLink Extreme to capture BetaSP YUV into FCP5 on a G5 2.7 dualie. I have latest Tiger upgrade, latest DeckLink driver, and latest FCP version. (I do not have QTPro installed yet.) I can hear no audio at all from the deck (XLR), but FCP captures and plays audio just fine. As far as I know all of the audio preferences are set correctly, including those in system preferences…still no joy.”

The good news is it works. I know cuz I’m doing pretty much exactly what you want to be doing with my new Extreme card and my BetaSP deck, and its all zipping along quite nicely with great audio and great picture. The bad news is, I’m patched through a Mackie Mixer and I’m not exactly remembering just now exactly how I hooked that up. If you still haven’t figured it al out by tomorrow I’ll see if I can be more helpful.

So, I am confident that Easy Setup is correct at HDV 1080i60, but still files are not recognised by QT or by FCP.
Anyone???

I got the 16mg SATA without a rebate, and would definitely go SATA external on all drives instead of firewire.

I just bought the 300gb Maxtor with 16mg cache for just $179 at CompUSA. You’d better off getting that one and putting it in a good external box that getting the el-cheapo AccomData. The drives will last a whole lot longer in a good external enclosure, and they’re not terribly expensive.

I just got a MAC G5, my first MAC ever, and I just plugged it into my existing PC network (WinXP) and rebooted. Apparently nowadays they speak easliy, but it wasn’t that way in the past. I’ve got the same MAC working wireless on my network now, and that was easy too.

I may be wrong (there’s a 1s time for everything…), but I thought Apple did something about that in the latest FCP patch…

Your sync issue is not caused by recording on a tape a few times, and thats especially if its a DV taoe, because its a digital recording. If you’re mastering to mini DV, obviously those tapes are tiny and fragile and prone to digital dropouts. Not a good idea to use them over and over again. The more robust tapes like digibeta and betaSP can be used quite a few times in a well maintained deck.

I’ve been there… It just doesn’t play, and a error message comes up saying that QT can’t play the file because its a type that is unrecognized.
