    Paul,

A lot of SD looks like suck on an HD monitor, but you really need to look for yourself, cuz no one can really tell you what a monitor looks like. I suggest you go to Magnolia Audio Video at 2800 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica and let them show you what HD and SD satellite TV looks like on a monitor similiar to one you might purchase for your edit system. Yoiu can extrapolate from that and figure out what you need.

[tangier Clarke] “Sony 50″ Wega DLP (Connected to Radeon 9600XT)”

    Tangier,

FYI, you have a Sony LCD rear screen projection TV — Sony doesn’t make products using DLP technology.

Sorry I can’t answer your question regarding your Extreme card – hope Luke or someone from DL will answer tomorrow as I have the same card.

    Rob,

What used to be just a capture card is today much, much more. Most of the cards allow video I/O (input/output) via both analog component and SDI, analog audio I/O via XRL cables, digital audio I/O via the SDI connection, as well as providing deck control and timecode via RS-422 cable, and usually monitor output as well. In other words, anything isn’t done via firewire and lots more… So, I guess you could say they’re pretty valuable…

    Hope this helps,

  • [Craig Seeman] “Now what about getting video or sound recording to use? One might have to find a way to get a campaign VNR.”

    Now you’re thinkin’…

  • Craig,

Get the opposition picture from the oppostion… Either request publicity stills from their PR people, or shoot one of their posters. Are they gonna say, “we distributed thousands of these pix, but only friendly media organizations can use them???”

Their own key art typically are the shots that work best anyway, because you’re turning the tables on them by attributing new meaning to something that people already recognize. The public usually appreciates that as an indicator that your candidate is smart and has smart political strategists on his team. Of course, that can backfire if you’re not careful about what you say…

Its also an excellent way to test the old theory to see if your tongue will really stick to frozen metal. Its a complete bunch of hogwash, your tongue won’t really stick. You should try it yourself just to prove it…

Sorry, inexpensive data recovery in an oxymoron…

I don’t know Bret, Wayne cuts fishing bait commercials for the largest company of its type in the world. After watching those wiggling baits full-time for forty hours each week, I’m guessing he has a few loose cogs tumbling around in his wheel house.
