New owner – distorted audio out on EXTREME/FCP
I just bought a Decklink Extreme for my G5 for use with FCP. After completing my setup and testing a capture, I discovered I cannot get good audio from the card. It is distorted, very low, and mostly on the right side. I think it is unrelated to FCP, as when I open the deck control to monitor a tape, I get the same result. I reintalled the drivers, reinstalled FCP, re-reinstalled the drivers, repaired disk permissions, trashed preferences, and zapped the P-RAM, still no luck. Though I’m running through a Makie 1202, I tried making the connections directly with the same results. I know the audio IN is working, as when I captured a clip through DL I monitored the audio back afterwards through my built-in audio and the clip sounds fine. Please help — this is a major inconvenience.

I have an Extreme card wired to a Mackie 1402 and it works perfectly. Evidently something is not patched or wired properly on your system.
BTW, when you do have everything right, make certain to turn your trim pots all the way down, as you’ll find that your board will work the way it was meant to, with faders in their detent positions feeding perfect signal into and out of the Mackie with little adjustment.

Turns out I had a bad card. Replaced it today and video/audio I/O is great. But now I’ve a new problem, which I’ll save for another post!
