Potential 5.1 bug with Tiger, FCP 5
I noticed that by selecting the HDTV 720p 59.94 for DVCPRO HD easy setup that my playback was automatically set to Blackmagic NTSC. The downconversion was fine and played flawlessly.
However, if I tried to set my video playback (under the VIEW menu) to something else such as 10-bit, RGB, or try to go back to the same M 8-bit video playback that the easy setup set for me, playback, specifically the downconversion stopped working. The only way I could get the playback to work again was to select the easy setup again. I could not get playback if I tried to set it using any other meny than the easy setup menu.
Here is my config: G5 Dual 2/4 GB RAM/ 250 x2 Internal SATAs/ 3.5 TB Xserve RAID (connected via apple fibre channel card in slot 3)/ ATI Radeon 9600 XT/ ATI Radeon 9200/ Blackmagic Decklink Extreme(Slot 4, PCI-X) /Tiger (MacOS 10.4.2)/ Final Cut Studio/ Apple 23″ HD Cinema Display(connected to Radeon 9600XT)/ Apple 17″ Cinema Display(connected to Radeon 9200)/ Sony 50″ Wega DLP (Connected to Radeon 9600XT)

FYI, you have a Sony LCD rear screen projection TV — Sony doesn’t make products using DLP technology.
Sorry I can’t answer your question regarding your Extreme card – hope Luke or someone from DL will answer tomorrow as I have the same card.

Hi Tangier,
I think that’s an FCP bug we also observed during testing and hence the fairly specific list of what we do and don’t currently support on down conversion. I’ll check with the relevant engineer when he returns from IBC.
