I only know ver. 5, but I’m sure its the same. Just set for anamorphic 16×9 — this will play 16×9 on a widescreen TV and letterboxed 16×9 on a 4×3 TV.

Hey Walter,

In Discreet Edit, my former NLE, when reversing playback of a clip there was a checkbox for reversing field order, which made the playback smoother. Any idea if FCP does this automatically???

Gary’s right… Either work at full online quality from the start, or dupe your tapes to an iframe format.

The question is, why not just use HDV native from the start? Believe it or not, it takes up less drive space than SD DV. DV uses about 13gb per hour — HDV is only about 11.5gb per hour.

Let me suggest that you or your assistant consider using a pencil and a peice of paper to write a note every time you repo, flop, etc. Careers have been lost over just such stuff, and that’s what assistants are for anyway.

Good question… High-speed tape duplication is acually done just that way, but no one ever implemented a high-speed capture technique using the same method. Too bad actually…
