    Makes sense that if you’re upgrading to a $3300 dongle in order to run a software app, you’d upgrade to the latest version of the software.

    Shane Ross over on Apple’s site gave a link here to a way that’s supposed to allow FCP 4.5 to run on the PCI-e G5s:

    I certainly hope this works. Please excuse my random anger, but this really pisses me off. Either Apple is spending too much time putting crappy video onto a 2″ screen (ipods) and not enough time on their pro stuff or they’re trying to get more money out of you by forcing you to upgrade. Either way, it’s pretty distressing for this recent Mac convert and does not give me great faith that Apple will take care of me in the long run if I buy a Quad.
