The firewire built into the Mac Pros share the same bus. So when you have a VTR and Fw800 Drive connected, the FW800 will drop to firewire 400. You can try to daisy chain the DSR-45 from the FW800 drive so that at least the bus maintains FW800 speed. But i’d suggest to go out and buy a PCIe Firewire Card (Sonnet and Belkin make a good one) and add that into your system. then put your deck into that card.

    hope that helps

you might want to look at Adobe ULTRA CS3 (formerly Serious Magic), great keyer and easy to learn, and can output @
    HD formats.

    Hey Walter,

Did they ever fix capture now to sync w/ timecode from tape when doing a live capture? I remember used to be able to do it in FCP3, but when FCP4 came out, didnt work anymore… Is there still a way to do it?

January 30, 2008 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Futura Font problem in FCP

This happened to me a few times with and I went into font book and discovered that there was a dot next to the font (duplicate font) for the text i was using. so in font book i selected the font then went up to edit -> resolve duplicates. Quit and reloaded FCP and didn’t have that issue anymore.

    hope that works out!

    Jeremy,

Are you using that 2nd drive for capturing/media files? is it fast enough to handle SD uncompressed???
